Absence Of Counsel Stalls Hearing Of Abia Governorship Election Petition
The Justice A.L. Ogumoye's led Governorship Election Petition Tribunal panel sitting in Umuahia, Abia State, South East Nigeria, has adjourned further hearing to July 1 on the matter between the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Absence Of Counsel Stalls Hearing Of Abia Governorship Election Petition
The Tribunal took the decision, Monday, following the inability of the lead Counsel for both parties to appear before the court due to what it described as natural factors.
Justice Ogumoye, however, cautioned both Counsels to stop making excuses that could cause further disruption of the Tribunal's proceedings insisting that such will put unnecessary pressure on the panel.
According to the Tribunal's earlier schedule, the petitioners, Alex Otti and APGA have 14 days for definite hearing of the petition while the three respondents, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, the PDP, and the Independent National Electoral Commission have 10 days each to put up their defences.
