The Nigerian Army has assured of the safety of the 2019 general elections ahead of the elections and with Boko Haram's renewed attacks on some communities in Adamawa State.

Army Launches Python Dance In Adamawa And Taraba

Brigadier General Muhammad Bello of the 23 Brigade Yola, gave the assurance during the launching of 'Ewgwu Eke,’ also known as “Python Dance III”, in Adamawa and Taraba States.

The Nigerian army says the resurging of Boko Haram activities, particularly in the far northern axis of Adamawa State, will not affect the conduct of the up-coming polls.

Brigadier General Bello stressed that the army, in collaboration with other security agencies, have mapped out operational plans to contain any security challenges that may arise around the period.

In the Adamawa theatre, operations have been stepped up in flash points like Michika, Madagali, Mubi, Gombi and Garkida, which borders the notorious sambisa forest hideout of the outlawed Islamist sect.

On the Taraba side of the engagement, Wukari and Gembu towns are receiving strategic military attention to ensure violence-free conduct of the elections.

The Nigerian army says "Egwu Eke (python dance III) is aimed at creating an enabling environment for safe conduct of the 2019 elections.

Military authorities confirmed also that to underscore the seriousness of the operation, the Chief Of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai has personally toured the units and formations to evaluate the performance of the exercise.
