ASUU STRIKE: NANS REACTS
Students from the seven states that make up Zone thirteen of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, at the weekend blocked a highway in Rivers state to express their displeasure with the continued strike by University lecturers.

Motorists were stuck in traffic for hours due to the protest. The students came out to protest what they consider an inconsiderate act on the part of the union.
The students expressed frustration and anger over the ongoing strike which, to them, was an exhibiton of just how little both the government and ASUU considered the effects on the students. One of the leaders of the protest, Jonah Adokiye spoke with members of the press to explain the worries of the students. He pointed out that some students have resorted to criminal activities due to their idle state. He also complained of the effect it would have on the number of years students would end up spending in schools before getting their degrees.
“The strike is taking its toll on the Nigerian student, you can only imagine what a lot of Nigerian students had been forced to get involved in as a result of this time waste. That is not to talk about the fact that our time is being wasted as this strike continues. We are not happy about this situation, hence this protest”, Adokiye said.
The protesters moved to the Rivers state government house where they were recieved by the Permanent Secretary Government House, Fortune Oguru who assured them that their complaints will be passed along to the relevant people.
