Buhari Apologises For June 12 Annulment.
President Muhammadu Buhari has tendered an unreserved apology on behalf of the Nigerian Government to the families of the Late Moshood Kashimawo Abiola and other key actors of the June 12, I993 struggle.

Delivering a keynote address at an event to confer National honours to the late MKO Abiola,his running mate Babagana Kingibe and the late Gani Fawehinmi, President Buhari said the awards are not aimed at opening old wounds but an attempt by government to right the wrongs of the past
President Buhari who invited Nigerians from all ethnic divides to accept the awards in good faith notes that citizens will no longer tolerate such perversion of justice as represented by the annulment of the Presidential elections in 1993
The President later called for the Observance of a minute silence in honour of those who lost their lives in the actualization of the June 12 struggle
In an attempt to assuage the pains of the June 12 struggle, the Late Chief MKO Abiola was recognised with the highest Natonal honour of Grand Commander of Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR), a posthumours award which his family described as well deserved
MKO's running mate in the June 12, I993 election Babagana Kingibe was conferred with the award of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).
Famous human rights lawyer and social Critic Gani Fawehinmi got the award of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger GCON posthumously.
