President Buhari and senior government official at the forecourt of the presidential villa received Mario Vaz a few minutes after 11am.

The two leaders thereafter went into a closed-door meeting.

Speaking with state house correspondents after the meeting, President Mario Vaz said he was in Nigeria to confer with president buhari on the decision by his country to postpone the legislative elections that was scheduled for November 18, 2018.

He explained that he came personally to Nigeria to brief President Buhari as the current chairman of ECOWAS, on the new date for the legislative elections in his country.

The ECOWAS had in April 2018, brokered an agreement between President Jose Mario Vaz and the opposition.

Following the agreement, elections were scheduled for November 18 but is now expected to be held in December 2018 or January, 2019.
