Delta State Government To Build Monorail In Asaba

The Delta State Government has held talks with a consultant to carry out a feasibility study on Monorail Transit System in Asaba, the capital of the state.
The government while doing so also restated its resolve to sell the Independent Power Plant, IPP, project in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state.
It also approved the appointment of HRM Ogiame Ikenwoli as the Olu of Warri Kingdom, HRM Nwaolise Okwuka I as the Obi of Issele-Mkpetime in Aniocha North Local Government Area and HRM Agbaovwe Afugbeya Oyise II, as the Odion R’Ode of Uwheru Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
At the State Executive Council meeting chaired Deputy Governor of Delta state, Mr. Kingsley Utuaro, yesterday, the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, said that the state government plans to undertake a study on the viability of monorail transit system in Asaba and fit it into the Asaba Development Master plan.
Patrick Ukah said the state government had decided to plan ahead because of the increasing population in Asaba in order to boost transportation.
On the appointment of four traditional rulers, Ukah said the council amended the Bendel State Legal Notice, BSLN 88 of 1979 regulating the customary law of succession to the traditional rulers title of the Senior Odion of Uwheru clan.
While Explaining the appointments of the traditional rulers, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Bright Edejevwo, said that the approval was part of the processes for the formal recognition of the monarchs.
