Elders Of Askira-Uba Margi Complain Over Silence On The Abduction Of 14 Women And Girls

Some concerned elders of Askira-uba Margi community in Borno state are complaining over what they describe as, seeming silence, by the authorities, over the abduction of 14 women and girls, all indigenes of Askira-Uba local government area, by Boko haram insurgents, recently.
They have therefore resolved to take their complaint to acting president Yemi Osibanjo.
The abduction of the ladies occurred about a month ago, in Abare-dalwa community, some 31 kilometres, on the Maiduguri-damboa road.
The women were said to be accompanying the corpse of one police sergeant Rahila Antakirya, who was being conveyed to Lassa town for burial, when their convoy being escorted by security, was ambushed and attacked by Boko haram terrorists.
According to them, security agencies have remained silent on the issue.
Borno state commissioner of police Damian chukwu, who sympathised with the people, however says, the accusation of neglect is unfair.
The Margi elders’ open letter to acting president Yemi Osibanjo, made available to journalists, is also asking government to pursue the insurgents, and get the kidnapped women released, to avoid their case being like the Chibok girls, who have been seized, for over 3 years.
