FG Orders Immediate Probe Into NDDC

The Federal Government has ordered an immediate probe into the one trillion Naira debt owed by the Niger delta development commission to contractors and allegations of project inflation.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Thursday before the national economic council meeting, minister of Niger delta affairs, Usani Usani, said that the move is part ongoing reforms to strengthen interventionist agencies in the region for improved performance.
Usani queried why three hundred billion naira has been expended on a less than four hundred kilometers east-west road without any sign of progress after several variations.
Environmental activists estimate that almost 600, million gallons of oil have been spilled into the Niger delta river in the last sixty-one years.
