GOVERNOR SERIAKE DICKSON CALLS FOR ATTITUDINAL CHANGE
The Bayelsa state government says it is determined to equip its youths with skills that will make them major contributors to the state’s economy.

Governor Seriake Dickson made this pledge while inaugurating a committee which is to work with consultants to produce a blue print for a youth development centre in the state.
Years of agitation for resource control has left many youths in the Niger Delta resorting to arms in their attempt to draw the international community to the impoverished region despite being the foremost producer of oil which is the nation’s life wire since 1956.
Five years after the youths left the creeks and waters and embraced the federal government’s amnesty programme, the Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson wants a complete change in mindset to help reposition them for a better future.
“My message to you people is to tell all the youths of this state that we want to free them and give them mastership over their lives”.
The governor wants the youth development committee to hit the ground running in the task given to them.
“There is hospital there, there is consultancy there, and they are developing a curriculum. I want all our youths to pass through that place. Develop a training programme, where you will be training their minds, their mindsets about themselves”, he concluded.
One of the attendees said, “We are fighting for infrastructure and true federalism”
The state government has therefore assured the committee of total support to ensure success in its assignment.
