INEC Redeploys 23 LG Heads In Rivers State
The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, says it has redeployed all 23 Electoral Officers who head Local Government Offices in Rivers State out of the State. National Commissioner of INEC May Agbamuche Mbu disclose this to Newsmen in Abuja, while speaking on the commission's decision after receiving the report of its Administrative panel set up to investigate allegations by the IG of police Investigative committee on the RIVERS state Legislative Rerun Election. The Commission Says 29 members of Staff were recommended for disciplinary action and their cases is currently being handled by the commission's disciplinary committee. On the 2015 EFCC post election report received by the commission in 2016, in which 202 officials from 14 states were mentioned, INEC says it has queried and invited those indicted to appear before an Administrative panel. The Commission also disclosed that five Resident Electoral Commissioner will be due for retirement by March 4th this year. Those affected are FCT REC, Prof. Jacob Jatau, Ondo State REC, Segun Agbaje, Bayelsa State, Barrister Austin Okojie, and Niger State Nasir Ayilara.
