Police Council Confirms Adamu IGP
The National Police Council has confirmed the appointment of Mohammed Adamu as the substantive Inspector General of Police.

The National Police Council which is chaired by President Mohammadu Buhari has the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Inspector General of Police and State Governors as members.
Briefing newsmen on the outcome of Thursday's meeting, the newly elected Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum and Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi said the decision to confirm Mohammed Adamu as the substantive Inspector General of Police was based on his enviable track record as a noble officer.
Fayemi who was joined by his counterpart in Cross River State, Ben Ayade to brief the media assured the IGP of the council's support for better policing of the nation.
The Police Chief said his confirmation is a call to greater service.
Mohammed Adamu was appointed acting Inspector General of Police by President Buhari on January 15, 2019.
He replaced Ibrahim Idris who retired after hitting the compulsory retirement age of 60.
The Police Chief hails from Lafia in Nasarawa State and was an Assistant Inspector General of police before his recent appointment.
Mohammed Adamu was Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State, Commissioner of Police, Enugu State, and has also served at Interpol and Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department, FCIID, Alagbon for some years before he was promoted to the rank of AIG.
