Politicians Call For Selfless Leadership
The lawmakers say that the principles and lessons of June 12 should be guarded, as election united the country without consideration or region.
The anniversary of the June 12 1993 presidential election has taken a political life of its own, which serves as a reminder that Nigerians can rise above tribe and tongue to determine their collective destiny. In their separate reflections son the June 12 experience, some law makers told AIT that the causative factor that brought June 12 on the Nigerian political scene has not gone away completely.
They told AIT exclusively that the crisis occasioned by the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election by the military should be a lesson for the present national electorate commission INEC to guide it against its present habit of annulling elections and declaring them inconclusive. They also said that political leaders should learn from Moshood Abiola, whose national acceptance was influenced by his selflessness.
