The gang which has its operational base in rivers state also gave vivid account of how they wasted some of their victims even after collecting ransoms.
The group’s method of operation appears to be an improvement on the style used by the notorious Evans, the kidnapper, but more dastardly.
The group also collects ransom in Dollars and occasionally in Naira.
One of the victims, John Ihenacho, a staff of the Nigerian national petroleum corporation was kidnapped in front of his house and his family was asked to pay 6 Million Naira.
In spite of the payment, the kidnappers killed him and buried him in a shallow grave.
Members of the gang were ex-prisoners who regrouped after regaining freedom and each person has a specified role to play.
It is in this chain of command that Iheanacho was kidnapped by the group on March 20, 2018, held him in Afam, a community in Oyingbo area of Rivers state and negotiated with his family members for a ransom initially put at 50 million naira.
Three months after the ransom was paid Iheanacho was yet to return to his family until the inspector general of police intelligence response team in rivers state led By Abba Kyari from the force headquarters unravelled the mystery.
Like late John Iheanacho who was kidnapped along with a female victim on the same day, two other males were also kidnapped by the same gang but survived with gunshot wounds
Most people and even organisations cough out huge sums to regain freedom and many blame the situation on the inability of the security agencies to stem the fide.
