Update: NNPC Tank Farm Fire Incident

One week after the fire incident at the NNPC tank farm within the Calabar free trade zone, the department of petroleum resources, DPR, has sealed up the linc oil tank farm over what the regulatory agency describes as illegal activities of the company.
Speaking during an inspection of the facilities in Calabar, DPR director in charge of operations, Mordecai Ladan said its interim findings revealed that illegalities have been going on within the tank farm for a while before the fire incident.
Ladan said some security operatives often connived with the staff of linc oil to perpetrate what he called illegal and unacceptable act, assuring that full investigation will reveal others engaged in the unwholesome practice.
In the same vein, the Nigerian ports authority says, it will soon embark on a nationwide safety campaign to prevent unwanted vessels on the nation's waterways as well as apply sanctions on those who violate safety regulations.
The executive director, marine and operations, of the Nigerian ports authority, Sokonte Davies said this while at the Calabar port to ascertain the level of damage following last Sunday’s fire disaster.
Eleven persons who were confirmed dead in the fire disaster were said to be scooping fuel at the oil tank farm.
