Yusuf Lasun Insists He Remains In APC.

The deputy speaker of Nigeria’s house of representatives, Yusuf Lasun has dismissed the rumour that he has defected from the ruling all progressives congress (APC), to the opposition, peoples democratic party (PDP), ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Yusuf Lasun

Lasun said this in a statement on Sunday, issued by his chief press secretary, Wole Oladimeji, saying that the alleged defection to the people's democratic party is highly misleading.

The deputy speaker stressed that he is an all progressives congress member to the core and therefore remains in the party as a loyal party man.

Lasun pointed out that reports of his defection were the machinations of his political distractors who are bent on maligning his political image.

The statement which explained that the house deputy speaker had on several occasion publicly condemned the direct primary which is now causing disaffection among the party faithful across the country, also said that Lasun's silence does not mean that he has left the party as the rumour recently being spread is by his political distractors.
